I thought that I wanted to go to Dino's Saturday night as my reward, but reaching of goal of getting below 200 pounds ,Linguine and clams did not seem so important. So instead John and I split a subways sub( with only healthy options ) and walked up to the Maple festival twice. ( no fries , no gyros, nope i did have a few bites of cowboy popcorn).
I am finding the choosing the right options be it healthy food, exercise is nice when the benefits start to show, for me I think losing weight will always be a slow process - and it has to be a way of life, not a "diet" I have been in this lighten up for two years, sometimes more slacking than others , I started in 2013 over 220 now I am under 200, slow and steady , but as my trainer in boot camp states, always moving forward.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02206802329852011040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-426097402684852152.post-51741087940725033302014-04-22T04:23:00.001-07:002014-04-22T04:23:04.175-07:00blog 17- Old friends

Wow- is all I can say, I ran into a co worker from my past- What an inspiration!!! This year I have made a choice to not eat anything that is frozen, or premade in a can-( I have eaten tuna from a pouch). This is hard. No more lean cuisines, no quick light soups. I am making my lunches at 5.30 am- resorting to a lot of salads.

I have gotten a lot of use of a few new gadgets-

I nice cast iron grill and a veggie cutter- .

I am also trying to stay away from most fast food- how ever in a pinch did hit up subway- I find myself at the store more often- buying fresh veggies- passing the chips are still hard- I thought for sure the weight would fall off- NOT. I am glad baseball season is underway (I am glad I am fitting into my old Indians shirts)
This has been a tough week- I have gone to boot camp all week- I skipped one day of yoga due to a migraine, the thought of downward dog with a head ache was just too much.
I am hoping to get some good walks in soon.. The temptation to eat some not healthy options was there all week- I just wanted the big platter of fries or the endless bowl of pasta but I reminded myself that fitting into clothes and be healthy had a bigger reward in the end- and thanks Jane because on Friday, John offered to bring me an Arby's fish sandwhich and from across the hall she yelled- EAT HEALTHY- so the fried fish got replaced with whole wheat, tuna and spinach! and lot's of H20Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02206802329852011040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-426097402684852152.post-50481431706865053942014-03-30T18:07:00.001-07:002014-03-30T18:07:08.464-07:00Blog 14. My goal this week is to improve my food choices -something better everyday . I have the workout part of this lighten up thing down - eating is still a challenge - it is not like I east bread or drink pop - I think it is my mindless nibble and my glass of wine - I am seeing my body change - it is rewarding - I have a stronger desire to improve. I have a huge birthday and a much needed vacation in the near future - I want have room in my cruise attire.

BootcampThis week my youngest son and I started bootcamp. There is one word that can describe this experience, ouch! Well, that is not entirely true, so,far it is energizing , fun ,humbling and exhausting all in one. Paul the instructor is fun and gives guidance. He is telling us about food and giving us lists to choose from. Aaron is not thrilled by lack of carbs, he is losing weight but is not so much fun, but he is losing and we are spending lots of time together.
The weigh in in two weeks. It has gone by so fast. I hope the weather breaks and I can get some fellow lightenup people to join me on some walks.

First weigh inPhew ,the first weigh in is over. - I was So happy to see our group smiling. After chatting with a few , I realize now that a few more of us will be stopping by the Reiders produce department - I checked it out after Lean Living on my way to get my hair cut - I purchased a few packages of mushrooms , potatoes and some apples . I also (shhh) sneaked a quick taste of the crab dip - I was starving -but decided to snack on an apple in the car . I am trying to figure out what my next month's plan is going to be , I am close to a personal goal - it is possible at the next weigh in but I really must be focused. Motivation is key for me, when I feel like not working out or grabbing the wrong snack I think of this group- Id all of you guys are doing it , so can I ! truth be told, I grab the article from the New Herald
look at all of your faces and push myself - I want to lose the 5% by April's weigh in to keep in this thing until July .I am half way .

One of those daysDid you ever have one of those days where you would rather be anywhere else ? I was fine this morning - my running on the treadmill is getting better . My eating during the day is getting better - but tonight when I got home - laundry, dinner, the dog, the cat, shopping - cleaning the counters and floors - putting away the groceries- I was calling for calgon to take me away - no such luck! Kids in the kitchen - non stop talking - a broken phone - non stop talking -dog needing to go out - the kids not stopping the talking - ok just going to shut the bedroom door - it is almost 9pm and my alarm goes off at 4:30 -
See you all at the weigh in. Ps
The Cheetos are not in the kitchen cupboard but I swear I can hear them calling me from Marc's a few blocks away -on these stressful nights I want for brief minute to cheat - but I want to be thinner more - but those darn Cheetos are still on the back of my mind - I hope in time they shut up .
It will be so nice to walk outside. I want to see tulips and daffodils- I know it will come but this year seems to be taking forever.

I try to go to the ymca 3 times a week before I go to work- Do you know that I pass 3 McDonalds on my way to work after I leave the gym.
This morning I thought I would be proactive and I would bring a little snack so I would not be tempted to stop along the way-
I brought an egg white- IT FROZE!! so much for being proactive. I did have a nice breakfast of cereal and blueberries once I got to work

BAD HABITS- I am not even hungry- and when I grab something I usually say I will vitabot and I forget-- I am my own worst enemy. They say you can break a habit in 30 days - It is so tough- I feel like I need to resort to duck tape-- either over my mouth or across my fingers- or maybe both!! I just need to find that will power to make it through the evenings. I am happy with all else- I have changed my snacks, weigh everything, I am crazy about exercising- ( I really like it)- spinning, walking, running, elliptical, incorporating some weights, just bought some kettle bells, but they are still in the box- I am hoping to bring those out this week, but I need to get out the dvd and learn how to use them correctly.

This is never easy--- thank god Duck tape comes in fashionable colors-- it may come down to that!

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02206802329852011040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-426097402684852152.post-47964248756893439012014-01-27T11:36:00.001-08:002014-01-27T11:36:22.296-08:00Blog 4 surroundedI am sitting at the car dealership waiting for tire repair ( darn Chardon roads)- I am in the customer lounge - surrounded by junk food! A huge Pepsi can ,almost as tall as myself, is next to a machine filled with over sized bags of fake foods and a tv in the back ground blaring some recipe for something that sounds really yummy. So, I get out the weapon of defense these days - Lighten up - well, ok maybe it is my iPhone, and I am blogging ,but at least I am not giving in to treats that would not do me any good.
I am flipping thru pages of a magazine making mental notes on a book I want to reserve from the library - "The Pound A Day Diet "by Rocco Dispirito. He has some really good recipes listed so I will check it out - I think will even try one for dinner -I am glad I have this iPhone - I can not only blog but take quick photos of recipes until I can get this book .
It is just so noticeable now, how many things are out to tempt us, especially when bored it stuck in lounge. If it was warmer, I could walk up and down Mentor Ave, but I will blog my latest thoughts.
A positive note , I was semi prepared for this wait that has turned out to be almost two hours so far. I packed some snacks. Almonds, water and 1/2 of a Florida orange bought yesterday on my long drive home.
The LONG drive back from sunny Florida to snowy Ohio - one the road for one hour - the boys are bickering already and John had to stop at McDonald's already for a real coffee-
So I decided to write my Blog for the
Week. The cruise was great, weather awesome and met new friends. I tried my best on the ship - the scale on board said that I gained 1.2 lbs- I am ok with that , my water in take was a bit down and my whole routine turned upside down sleeping in a bit, eating dinner much later than usual and more food temptations than you can ever imagine. I walked every morning 1-2 miles, climbed the
Stairs and tried to stay away from carbs . Now I plan on getting back to routine at home. Yoga on Wednesday and Friday am, spinning class on Saturdays. I want to get to gym before work at least twice during the week but that means getting there by 5:30am and that seems harsh in these extreme temps.
