Blog 25- seeing results

I finally got brave enough and I went to the back of my closet, pulled out a pair of jeans from my past-
and... they fit!! Nice, now I get to go shopping in my own closet. well, not exactly but I am sure that you understand what I mean.
I am even getting more motivation from this.
It is so nice feeling better, setting complitments, people noticing the change in my appearance and attitde.
I am glad the cutt off weigh in over,now we can focus on the next half. -- Let me refrase that .... I do not think of this as a contest but more of a way of living. I have set new goals... some for the contest, some for just me.

Yoga!!!!

I go to yoga classes 1-2 times a week. I have to admit that I really have grown to appreciate these classes. I did start before I even entered into this Lighten up adventure.,I began in Oct 2012. This class is offered at my office building. I go to the 6 am or 7 am class.
For anyone who thinks yoga is for sissy's or that you don't get a work out, let me tell you,more days than not I leave that class drenched. I have seen my strength increase, my technique of breathing during class improve. Today for the first time I was able to hold the crow pose (see photo) so long I amazed myself !
I am thankful I have a great yoga instructor!

Blog 23- yikes - April 27th is nearing

I spent some time reading everyone's blogs this weekend, It seems that we are realizing how fast April 27th is approaching.
At the last weigh in I did meet my 5%- But as Laura reminded me I had to maintain and not gain.
I think I am doing ok(my scale always reads a bit less than the BIG RED SCALE) .Since the l;ast weigh in,
I did have a few days in New York and then a few days with a flu - both of which played havick with my eating pattern and work out routine.
 I have this week to put everything back in balance.
I really have get great ideas from Ron on the Facebook page_ Thanks Ron!
I must say that this whole new Lighten up way of life is a nice addition to my world. My son Mason (17)who joined in making better decisions has lost 35lbs- He looks fabulous! and his attitude and confidence is so improved.
For myself, I have set a new goal to reach by my birthday May 28. I  have every intention to reach it.
I have just gotten my bike back from it's yearly tune-
Maple Highlands trail watch out- here I come- almost 18 from my driveway to the end in Middlefield and back.

Blog 22 Back from New York

I am back from New York. We had a  great time.
 My heart goes out the Boston Marathon .
In New York, I saw how many people gather at the finish line . It is wonderful how everyone gathers to run or cheer on.
 
I still plan on participating in more half marathons.

Blog 21 New York New York -

I am heading of to New York tomorrow to paticipate in the More Magazine 1/2 marathon thru Central Park.
We will be walking the race.- sounds funny walking the race- but this is my first attempt at thisdistance.
I will keep everyone posted on how things go. I wish the race was at the end of the summer so I had more walking time outside. I have been trying but the weather did not agree with me. I have been spinning and bootcamping all in preparation. I hope that all of the days away from home do not hurt my eating habits too much.
I have also started reading Bob Harpers book The SKINNY RULEs- The Simple Nonnegotiable Pronciples for Gettting to Thin. I have also listened to the CD. He has 20 rules- some I already follow - so will take some work to follow, but they all make alot of sense. the first rule- Drink lots of water- NO EXCUSES.- I got that one down.

blog 20 Beautiful Sunday

I have survived another weigh in - 
I made it it thru another week of trying how to fit in being a mom, home owner, employee for a medical practice -30 years this year - , a girlfriend , working out 6 days  a week and eating right . Phew I am exhausted just typing all of that ! But I am doing it - I am happy with my progress. I am happy with my decisions for today - as I posted on Facebook, I went out to breakfast today choosing from the light menu and satisfied. I walked 1 1/2 hours outdoors, exploring new parks ( thanks Laura for the new park ideas ).
I am exhausted but I feel good .

blog 19 Finally we are done wtih March

 I am hoping with the new month of April we will be seeing lots of spring.
I took the dog walking yesterday braving the cold- determined to get that walk in before Easter dinner.
I am looking forward to nicer weather and a brighter outlook. I am so sick of the gray weather.
I did well at Easter dinner and allowed myself  a candy malted egg and a tiny taste of a  piece of carrot cake- a family member kept trying to tell me it was like eating more veggies- I just rolled my eyes.
We are planning a cruise vacation and I want to fit into my vacation wardrobe so I even have a bigger incentive to get this fit way of life working for me- I want it to become easier- not the exercise but the whole thought process.
